CAN I SCHEDULE A BURIAL DIRECTLY WITH THE CEMETERY?
All casketed burials must be scheduled with a licensed funeral director. Please contact your funeral director first when it is time to schedule a service. To schedule a cremated remains burial, please contact our office directly.
WHAT DO THE OPENING CHARGES INCLUDE?
Opening charges include coordinating the burial with a licensed funeral director; laying out the grave; excavating the grave; servicing the funeral and then filling the grave. After the committal service, the gravesite is tidied and flower arrangements are removed. Once the ground settles, grass seed is planted and maintained. This process, from closing the grave to establishing the grass, may take up to 8 months depending on the time of year and the weather. Seeding generally takes place in the spring and fall.
Opening charges also include recording and documenting the burial at the cemetery and filing the burial transit permit with the municipality.
CAN I PURCHASE A GRAVE MARKER FROM THE CEMETERY?
New Jersey State Law prohibits cemeteries from selling grave markers. All grave markers must be purchased through funeral homes or monument companies.
WHEN CAN GRAVE MARKERS BE PLACED ON THE GRAVE?
In most cases a grave marker may be installed between 8 months to a year after the day of the burial.
The grave must settle before a proper foundation can be built. This depends on the time of year the burial takes place and the weather. All markers must be granite.
MAY I PLACE FLOWERS AT THE GRAVESITE?
Fresh cut flowers only are permitted at the gravesite. Please do not use glass or ceramic containers.
Candles, glass containers and cans cause safety concerns and can impede the cemetery’s ability to mow and trim the grass. Plastic vases for flowers are permitted and available at the cemetery. If you would like to place plantings at the gravesite, please contact the office for approval.
WHAT IS PRE-ARRANGEMENT AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
Pre-arrangement is the purchase of cemetery property before the time of death. Planning for death can be difficult but making preparations greatly lessens the burden on survivors at the time of loss. Loved ones wishes are made known and can be arranged so that permanent decisions are not made in haste.
Pre-arrangement is also more cost effective than waiting until the time of need. Preneed payments for grave purchase may be made in installments, interest free. Proper planning of expenses lessens the burden on all. Please contact us if you would like to discuss pre-arrangement.
